WHAT MEANS OCR
What means the acronym OCR ? Its english translation is "Optical Character Recognition". Which characters ? Characters in pictures, photos found on the web, on various sites and portals, or those in an image or photos that scans through our printer. Look at the image below :
A beautiful poem by Pablo Neruda. If you want to copy it, you must open a text editor such as Word and begin copying. Imagine if the text is too long, with thousands of words. Too much time, or no ? Here we find useful an OCR program that can interpret the characters inside and convert them to text. We find, after using OCR software, a text containing the entire poem written more different words than we see in it. Certainly we should do after a copy and paste of the text supplied to us by the OCR system and change it, fix it, edit it properly through a text editor.
The text, usually, is converted to ASCII or UNICODE and many OCR programs on the market, allowing a conversion close to 99% of a written text with fonts known. If, the image text, is in handwritten, recognition drops to about 80%.
This is the meaning of the OCR acronym, but we say, where is a good software for our conversions ? Do not worry, you don't need to install any software but only click the link below where I point to a free online resource where to upload our pictures or photos to bring out the text :
